                                  AGM STATEMENT

David Green, Chairman of Colefax Group Plc, speaking at the company's AGM today,
made the following comment on current trading:

Since we announced our final results in July, trading in all our major markets
has remained favourable, although in the United States, our most important
market, the rate of growth has slowed slightly in the last two months. In the
UK, market conditions remain strong as we enter the critical autumn selling
season. In Continental Europe, the recovery which started last year has
continued into the current year.
